What is Redecorating?
Redecorating is a home makeover for YOU. The process is similar to staging but with re-decorating you don’t have to worry about what a stranger would want. With redecorating, your lifestyle and decorating choices are the first consideration. The job of a stager/redecorator is to work with you to make the most of what you have, or suggest some future purchases that would compliment what you have already. On the other hand, the principles of staging and redecorating are almost the same in that an attractive room . . . is an attractive room. Perhaps you find yourself in a situation like this . . .
- Your tastes have changed over the years, but maybe your home doesn´t reflect that.
- You own attractive accessories but you´re not quite sure what to do with them.
- You don´t need new things, but you just don´t know how to make what you have come together.
What’s the difference between hiring a decorator or using the services of a stager?
Some of the functions are similar. A decorator comes to you with the purpose of creating a new look for your home but will be doing all the work. They will often start from scratch and will probably be purchasing several new items to complete their designs. On the other hand, a stager or re-decorator will work closely with you to create a fresh decor, first using what you have, with new, innovative applications. If accessories are needed to compliment what you have already, they will be added as well. You can be as involved in the whole process as you like.
What happens in the re-decorating process?
It’s amazing how many people move into a home, making split second decisions on furniture placement, wall hangings, room layout, etc. that day, and then never re-evaluate those pressured filled decorating choices. (Recognize yourself here?)
In other cases, “stuff” gradually accumulates without any evaluation as to whether or not it actually compliments the room. Then, there are the pictures hung in the wrong place or at the wrong height. Others face the challenge of homes that haven’t been revitalized for years. An initial consultation involves much more than an evaluation of your rooms. You also get practical, hands-on guidance as to what your next steps should be. We then work together to de-clutter, re-arrange, and decorate until the job is completed. Fees for redecorating are $75.00 to $100.00 for the first hour with lower rates reduced afterward, depending on the amount of work needed.
FREE Redecorating: Mentoring Services
While I am glad to work with you throughout the whole re-decorating process, many clients feel all they need is a jump start. You might prefer to have my professional direction only. I will serve as your mentor and guide while you do most of the actual work. You pay for the initial consultation: I walk you through your home as you make notes on needed changes. I give you my best professional advice on how you can redecorate your home YOURSELF. You end up doing the redecorating yourself – for FREE. The advice you pay for will serve as a guide for the rest of your life, when decorating your next home, and the next, and the next . . . Fees are $75.00 to $100.00 for an hour packed full of invaluable information.
